The Caleb Group, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit, is redeveloping the historic Robinson Mill in Oxford, creating over 70 affordable one- and two-bedroom senior housing units. The $32 million project at 283 King Street involves restoring the 19th-century brick structure to create new, energy-efficient apartments for residents over 62. The project aims to preserve the character of the original 1865 and 1898 brick buildings,  blending historical preservation with modern, safe, and affordable housing.

The first construction phase is to build a complex with 33 one-bedroom units.  Construction timeline will be determined by the Maine Housing Authority’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.

Phase two will have the mill’s original brick warehouse and boiler house restored and converted to 44 additional apartments.  The developers are working closely with the Oxford Historical Society to preserve the mill’s history and its impact on Oxford’s economy.

The Caleb Group has undertaken similar projects that have provided affordable senior housing in Bangor, Biddeford, Sanford, Saco, North Berwick, Lewiston, Old Orchard Beach as well as multiple locations in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
