How It StartedIn 2023, TLEA partnered with local Soil & Water Conservation Districts to complete a Watershed Survey of Thompson Lake. Using the results of that survey, TLEA successfully obtained a federal Section 319 Grant through the Clean Water Act.
The 319 Grant provides funding for erosion control projects that reduce polluted runoff and protect water quality. With this support:
TLEA, local Conservation Districts, and contractors can work together on projects.
Both small and large properties can receive assistance.
Best Management Practices (BMPs) are installed, such as:
Shoreline stabilization, Stormwater controls and other erosion-prevention measures.
Properties were identified in the 2023 Watershed Survey as contributing erosion to Thompson Lake. If your property is on that list, you may qualify for 319 Grant assistance.
Look through the 2023 Watershed Survey Report to see if your property is included.
