The TLEA Annual Meeting was held on August 2, 2025, at the
Station House Community Center from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Ron Armontrout, our outgoing president welcomed the 85 members and guests.
Coffee and refreshments were served; merchandise was displayed for purchasing.
Raffle gift certificates were donated by: Oxbow Brewing, Poland Provisions, Nonesuch Brewing.
The guest speaker for the meeting was Korey Morgan, Executive Director of Western Foothills Land Trust. Korey is a native of Greenwood, ME who grew up exploring trails and fishing the local streams and ponds. Prior to joining the Land Trust, Korey served as a lead communicator at the U.S. Forest Service headquarters in Washington, D.C. where he advanced national conservation efforts. Korey’s presentation centered around the need to protect the water quality around us by utilizing the land trust programs availability to protect the forested lands from development.
Our second presenter was Mike Smith from Agassiz Village. His presentation to the audience was a description and history of what this camp does for inner city and underprivileged children. He extended an invitation for a free concert that was to take place at the camp days later.
A moment of silence was held for Peter Siebert, a TLEA director who passed away this past year.
Sharon Rice, a long-time TLEA director, stepped down this past year and the board presented her with flowers and a gift certificate.
Ron Armontrout, who was stepping down as president was presented with a gift certificate for his service as the president.
TLEA committee reports:
Ron Armontrout gave a summary of the LakeSmart program.
Paul Cain summed up the 319 Grant Program on where we stand now.
Jim Skinner and Josh Wright gave summary on the YCC program, the jobs that have been completed thus far.
Michael Sly summed up the financial status of TLEA.
Michael Sly & Brian Bond gave a summary on the milfoil mitigation and CBI programs.
Peggy Dorf reported on the Loon Count and education. 31 loons were counted on
Saturday, July 19
Bill Booth reported on the membership status.
Jim Hughes reported on the Oxford Dam.
