Milfoil DiversTLEA Thompson Lake Environmental Association MaineWe are especially grateful for our knowledgeable and experienced Milfoil Management Team, who have been dedicated to protecting the lake season after season.

Over the years, their efforts have resulted in the removal of more than 579 tons of milfoil, a testament to their commitment and persistence. This summer, the team focused on eight areas of the lake, with special attention on Pine Point, where Greely Brook enters the lake. Because the brook carries high levels of nutrients, it creates conditions that encourage excess plant growth, including milfoil.

The team reports that this year’s regrowth was similar to last summer, in part to the lack of extreme water temperature increases seen in 2024. A total of 17,513 pounds, or 7 Tons of milfoil was removed from Thompon Lake in the 2025 season. While progress is steady, Pine Point remains a priority, along with areas in other coves throughout the lake and we expect milfoil management to be an ongoing effort to keep Thompson Lake healthy and thriving.
